Facilitated work experience.

Skills for life.

A way forward for young people.

Hello friends!

So much to Take Over... such little time. That's to say, YTO has been busy at work. From launching the Streetwear Take Over, to seeing the end of our Wine Label Take Over, it's all happening here, folks!

But first things first, remember to forward this email on to any young people you know who are interested in taking their next step.

And if that's you, be sure to click the magic button below.
The Magic Button (click here for our Sign-Up Sheet)
Now wait a minute... who are Take Overs for?

We are here for all the folks from 17-25 who are looking for their 'next step.'

We know that heaps of young people haven't had the chance to try something new and get a few more notches on their CV the past few years. We are flexible as well, and if you're just outside of the age range, we can have a conversation about whether this is right for you.
UPCOMING TAKE OVERS
Become a Digital Campaigner

  • This program is great for young people with a particular interest in web design, digital marketing, history, journalism, research, and photography.
  • Interns will create a digital presence for the legendary Castlemaine Gift athletics event with Rob Jennings and Scott Sanders from We Push Buttons – a local web design & digital marketing service.
  • Sessions will run in person on Thursdays, 11am – 1pm.
Join a Video Production Team
  • This Take Over is a chance for interns to create a short film in a documentary style that will be added to an existing body of work by Yarn Bark
  • Our facilitator is Will Austin – a proud Peek Woorroong Keerraay Woorroong First Nations young man from Victoria's Western Districts and founder of Yarn Bark.
  • This program is great for young people with a particular interest in event organising, video production and learning about First Nations history and culture. Like all Take Overs, this program is open to all!
  • Sessions will run online on Thursdays, 4pm – 6pm.
TAKING OVER AS WE SPEAK
Start Your Own Streetwear Label

Take Overs model a workplace. So, instead of telling our interns what we expect from them, we ask them to write the rules. Our Streetwear crew decided it's important to give constructive feedback, be mindful of each other's feelings, and be kind. In simpler terms, be a good egg.

Working with Josh and Jasper from ONI STREETWEAR, the team are developing their own streetwear brand. They will launch a line of T-shirts later in July. Stay tuned for the launch event details!

Youth Take Over Loddon Campaspe is a three-year collaboration funded by Agnico Eagle Community Partnership Program, and delivered by Campaspe Cohuna LLEN, Central Ranges LLEN, Goldfields LLEN, and North Central LLEN.
This newsletter was written on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. Youth Take Over acknowledges the Jaara people who for many centuries have met and cared for children and young people on the lands on which we now work. We recognise them as the traditional custodians of this land, and pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
