It amazes me how common this specific blindspot is when I work with corporate or business focussed clients:
They know they are supposed to use storytelling to get closer to their clients, staff, and associates, but they often want to separate themselves from their stories.
The fastest way to connect and grow your relationship with your clients is to share yourself. Too often, people want to remove themselves from the story, and the results are that you and your story come off as white, round, and flavorless.
Unremarkable and entirely forgettable. In an attempt to sound like everyone else in their industry, many people end up sounding like everyone else.
Indistinguishable and irrelevant.
If nothing else, we must avoid being boring. We must stop assuming people want to listen. Instead, we must give our audience a reason to listen. We must create the desire to be heard.
We do this through a story.
A few days ago, I sent you an email that invited you to join a brand-new community of business focussed storytellers. This is where I will be able to help you become a better storyteller so you can use stories to be more successful, memorable, and connected.
Ultimately, we use stories to grow our businesses and make more money.
This is a free community of business-focused story enthusiasts who realize the value of storytelling in many facets of a business. This will be the platform where I will provide resources, free training, peer work sharing, and feedback from me and my team. The materials I share will help our members communicate more effectively and memorably, create deep connections with customers, investors, and employees, extend their reach into the addressable market, and make more money, all by telling better stories.
