Tuition 2021–2022 Update: Boston Conservatory at Berklee
The Berklee Board of Trustees has approved an overall increase of 2 percent in tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees for Boston Conservatory at Berklee Boston campus undergraduate and graduate programs for the 2021–2022 academic year. This includes a 2.5 percent increase in tuition, a 1 percent increase in room and board fees, and no change to comprehensive fees.
Tuition Rates and Financial Aid
Undergraduate and graduate degree program tuition for the 2021–2022 academic year will be $46,412—an increase of $1,132 from the current year’s tuition. Total tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees will increase to $67,340 annually.
We understand that affordability continues to be a barrier for our students; to address this, we have prioritized student support. Last year, we froze tuition, despite increased costs for the institution, resulting in the Conservatory having the eighth-lowest tuition and fees of 20 institutions in our peer group. This year’s increase maintains our position as less expensive than many other private institutions of higher education in the arts.
Board members have reaffirmed a key component of Berklee’s multiyear strategy to address affordability through new commitments to financial aid. For the 2022 fiscal year, Berklee’s target for scholarships and financial aid will exceed $80 million, an increase of more than 27 percent over the past five years. We also committed to continuing the Thrive Scholarship program next year, an initiative aimed at helping upper-semester students receive the support they need to finish their academic coursework with less financial strain.
Even though COVID-19 and all of the actions we have taken in response to the pandemic produced the largest financial challenge that Berklee has ever faced, we are in a strong position, and will continue to provide our students with the education, tools, and connections they need to achieve their academic and career goals.
