HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING HOLIDAY
& WELCOME BACK SCHOLARS!

Please Read Return to School
& Negative Covid Test Policy

Dear Parents,

In advance, we appreciate your patience as we navigate, control and ensure a healthy and safe Covid-Free environment for all Scholars, teachers and staff at Arlington.  Given the rise in Covid cases and travel during the holiday break, we require the following:

1) All Scholars will be required to submit their negative Covid Test with results within the last 72 hours.
2) Scholars that do not have a Covid Test have the following options:

--Take a Covid-Test at Arlington at 8am and return home for Virtual Learning.  Scholars may return to
school once negative test results are received.
--Take a Covid-Test at another location by making an appointment. Scholars may return to school
once they are in receipt of their negative Covid Test,

Overall, Scholars without a negative Covid Test result will have to utilize Virtual Learning until a negative Covid Test is provided.  As you know, some persons carrying and transmitting Covid may be asymptomatic, having no symptoms, yet spreading the virus of which we aim to avoid for the safety of everyone.

Virtual Learning Access

All Scholars will utilize the same class codes they used last week to access Virtual Learning. If for any reason, your Scholar has trouble accessing a Virtual class, please reach out to your teacher but first check to see if an email message has been received from your Teacher.

Important Elementary Updates
Elementary Classes Have Moved!

Moving to Elementary Classrooms to our Library Hall for now will serve as a better solution for in-classroom learning until the HVAC system is repaired.  Our Library Hall is the on the right side of the Cafeteria and for many years, served as our overflow classrooms for several Elementary classes in the past!  Our Teachers have spent several days to move and prepare to welcome Scholars back to school tomorrow in their new location and look forward to seeing them!

Drop-Off/Pick-Up for Elementary

Please drop Elementary Scholars off at the Front-Door.  Please help us to make drop-off and pick-up move quickly to avoid a bottle neck of traffic for other parents doing the same and needing to get to work!  Always drive safely and be mindful of walking pedestrians!

New Enrichments to Elementary
  • We have added a new layer of testing to make sure that we are meeting the needs of each scholar in math and reading. Scholars in grades kindergarten through eighth, will take the i-Ready diagnostic test this week.
  • The i-Ready Diagnostic Test will assist teachers in setting individual goals for each scholar. This will give the teachers a deeper knowledge of their scholar’s performance in math and reading. The i-Ready assessment gives teachers a complete picture of how scholars are performing in a comprehensive setting.
  • Scholars will use the program daily in math and reading. The diagnostic assessment will level each scholar as they matriculate through the program depending on how they respond to each question and how they complete the practice exercises.
  • The i-Ready diagnostic assessment will be given in between the MAP Assessment and will be a great indicator for teachers to measure how well their scholars are retaining standards that are being taught.
New Robotics Class comes to High School!

tomorrow, Tues., Jan. 18th!

Hello Parents!

Mr. Rogers is a Robotics Engineer who is willing to teach two new elective courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45am to 10:00am and from 10:00am to 11:15am (2nd and 3rd period).

The courses that he offers are "Block Chain Base Finance & Cryptocurrency Technologies" and "Robotics Software Engineer".  These courses can be taught both virtually and in person. The Bitcoin course (which is free)  would teach the scholars what cyber currency is and how to use it effectively.

Shown in the link below is the program that he would be using for the robotics course that cost $22 per student per month which would total at about $90 for the semester. This course would allow the students to receive a certified Robotics Programing Certificate that can be used both college and career resumes.
