Writing Contest and Raffle Winner to be Announced!

Dear <<First Name>>,

Please join us for the Welcome to Winter Hike at the new Hidden Quarry Trail on Saturday December 15 at 1pm. In a brief program before the hike, we will announce the winners of our latest Travel Writing Contest as well as the lucky  winner of Bill Amadon's painting which you can see below.

Take a moment to read the writing contest entries on our website: you will find a great variety of strong stories which should inspire you to get outside and enjoy the CATS trails and support our local businesses.

We want you to know that CATS trails are for year round use: they are excellent for both skiing and showshoeing. The Welcome to Winter Hike will begin at 1.00pm and last until approximately 2.15. Hikers should meet at the former Mormon Church parking lot, located 4.6 miles south of the downtown Westport and 4.8 miles north of the downtown Port Henry on the east side of NYS Route 22/9N.

We look forward to seeing you on the trail!

Champlain Area Trails is creating a network of hiking/skiing trails in New York’s Champlain Valley that links communities, connects people to nature, enhances economic vitality and protects habitat, farmland, clean water, and scenic vistas. We envision the Champlain Valley with conserved forests and farmland surrounding vibrant hamlets with people hiking and skiing between communities and patronizing local businesses. The key to success is conservation of the landscape so natural and scenic resources sustain local communities, attract visitors and new residents and provide habitat for native plants and animals.
