Sorry to be arriving so quickly into your inbox after the Give It A Go, but we need to update you on a few things.

We now have a website:, and although it is not quite finished it will be soon.

Part of the site is a Knowledge Base where extra but important workshop content will be found; including important information on Media Law, that would overwhelm our first workshop session.

The information on Media Law will be revised and published in advance of our first workshop, and referenced briefly, as it is very important information for podcasters, and all those working in media.

Emergency General Meeting

MONDAY 11TH OCTOBER 2021 from 18:00-19:00 via Microsoft Teams

After consulting with the Students Union, I have to inform you that we will be having a rather impromptu Emergency General Meeting.

Whilst Ed and Bertille will remain as President and Secretary respectably; Hannah the current Treasurer will be stepping down, as her MSc has now finished and the course end date approaches; this is the primary position that must be filled for us to continue as a society.

We do have three other committee roles which are currently unfilled, and which it would be nice to fill.

The first of these is the Social Events Manager who is
responsible for organising informal socials for society members and aspiring members, to provide a space of positivity and increase the social life within the society. They are directly accountable to the Secretary (Bertille).

The second of these roles is that of the Public Relations & Social Media Manager who is the front figure out the society. This person shall represent the society and reach out to news outlets, other societies etc. to gain the society and specific campaigns, fundraisers etc. more publicity. Responsible for overseeing social media activity, keeping track of the social media group, making sure that they are reaching their goals, expanding their reach online and producing appropriate content. They are directly accountable to the President.

And finally the third current unfulfilled role is that of the Fundraising Manager who is responsible for coordinating fundraisers, this includes setting specific monetary goals, choosing an activity for the fundraiser, they are directly accountable to the Treasurer.

Due to time restraints, and our only recent founding we have not as a society voted on the other two committee roles that have been proposed in advance of our previous pre-semester General Meeting, due to technical difficulties.

Those two roles will also be voted on at the EGM - that of Podcast Production Manager who is responsible for supporting the organising of guests for podcasts and for presenting at events. And the second of these proposed roles is that of the Clubs & Societies Liaison Manager who would be responsible for organising and supporting Clubs & Societies with starting, launching and continuing a podcast; and secondly as a recruiter of other clubs and societies towards this goal.

I need to confirm if constitutional amendments to positions and the election for those positions can occur at the same time; it is likely that they can, but that the election result would provisional dependent upon the acceptance of those positions as amendments to the constitution.

Only Student/Standard Members are entitled to vote for committee members per union rules.

We require a minimum of 50%+1 of members to attend to be in Quorum and able to elect and vote as a society.

Executive & Committee Meeting

Following the EGM and the Clubs and Socs Workshop on Tuesday 12th October, there will be an Executive and Committee Meeting via MS Teams at 19:00 until 20:00 on Thursday 14th  October 2021. Where new members of the executive will have a chance to chat with Bertille and myself.
