We would be grateful if you could forward this email to your students to make them aware of Ecologia Youth Trust’s work and encourage them to volunteer in Russia during their Study Abroad year.
Kitezh Children's Community is a safe, secure rural environment of Russian foster families where volunteers are encouraged to speak Russian. Over the past 15 years Kitezh has hosted over 250 young people from the UK and other countries. Living with Russian families and interacting with the children is the most effective way of overcoming the barriers to speaking the language! Many of our volunteers return again and again, and here is what a few of them have to say:
"The experience of living in the community was very rewarding and I got to do so many different things and learned a lot about myself as well. In the end I really felt like a part of the community and the only reason why I wanted to leave was to see my family and friends at home again."
Caroline Ammann, Switzerland, 2013 Volunteer.
"My time in Kitezh has been wonderful. I feel that I have grown as a person, and been shown an interesting way of educating kids and interacting with them. Meeting and getting to know the children and the adults was a pleasure, and I miss them very much. All in all, Kitezh is a very special place."
Our programme is less expensive than other organisations, and according to our volunteers more rewarding than other study abroad programmes.
We will provide you with:
Julie Andersen, University College London, 2012 and 2013 Volunteer.
“Volunteering in Kitezh was an overall great experience. Although it was nothing like I expected, I came home with a changed heart, much better Russian, and a strong desire to return. Volunteering in Kitezh is great for those who want to be challenged and want to improve their Russian outside of the classroom.”
Kathleen Westmoreland, University of Delaware USA, 2012 Volunteer.
