On World Malaria Day, the Africa Indoor Residual Spraying project (AIRS) celebrates protecting more than 14 million people in Africa from malaria, including 1.4 million children under five. From March 2012-2013, AIRS sprayed 4.2 million homes with insecticide that kills mosquitoes that transmit malaria. AIRS joins Roll Back Malaria and the malaria control community in commemorating the progress that has been made against this deadly disease and urging for increased investment to eliminate malaria.
