Community events

National Child Protection Week – 7 to 13 September

Held by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, this year's National Child Protection Week will focus on increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of primary prevention to reduce child abuse and neglect in Australia.

Family Violence Public Forum – 16 September

Featuring panel members Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police Ken Lay, Rosie Batty of Luke Batty Foundation, Fiona McCormack of Domestic Violence Victoria and Rodney Vlais of No To Violence and the Men's Referral Centre, this forum will discuss family violence and how to effect meaningful change in the community.

Victoria Legal Aid will have an information stand at the forum.

Handy website for young people

StreetSmart is a smartphone-friendly website by Youthlaw that explains the law in plain English and has all the legal information you need to know about police, Protective Services Officers, ticket inspectors and security guards, as well as useful tips on how to handle yourself.
