Ocean Waves in an Evolving Climate

Using supercomputing resources at NERSC, Berkeley Lab scientists are generating and analyzing ocean wave climate projections and working with an international research collaboration to better understand how global and regional wave conditions may evolve under climate change.

Postdoc Symposium Videos Posted

Video is now available from the first Computing Science Area Postdoc Symposium. Twenty-two postdoctoral fellows from across CSA shared the status of their current projects at the event.

June Brings Retirements

Erich Strohmaier: CRD Group Lead, TOP500 Co-Creator

After nearly two decades at Berkeley Lab, CRD's Erich Strohmaier will retire this month. Co-creator of the twice-yearly TOP500 List, Strohmaier helped raise awareness of HPC's role in modern science.

Craig Tull: CRD Group Lead, Computational Physics Advocate

In his years at Berkeley Lab (25 or 38, depending on how you count), Craig Tull has worked in six different departments with one goal: Accelerating physics through computing. He retires this month.

Betsy MacGowan: Safety Coordinator

Betsy MacGowan's path to the lab was winding. Raised in Alabama and schooled in Virginia, she made her way to California to study Buddhism. An "accidental" career in safety brought her to Berkeley Lab. After 18 years on the job, she retires this month.

...And More

Other CSA retirees this year are Mark Heer (NERSC), Craig Lant (NERSC), Rei Lee (NERSC), and Michael O'Connor (ESnet).

Congratulations everyone!
