Dear Santa Clara Unified Community,
As 2019 comes to a close, I would like to take this time to thank the entire Santa Clara Unified community for all the positive energy and support you show our students and schools every day. When schools, families, and communities come together, our children absolutely thrive.
California has been making a series of major shifts in public education with one overriding goal — to improve learning so all students can be successful 21st-century citizens in both work and life. Santa Clara Unified School District is committed to equal opportunity for each student, and your partnership in this endeavor, by ensuring that your children are in school every day, particularly for our primary grade students who are learning to read. Strong reading skills are closely linked to high school graduation rates. So, being in school each and every day, along with daily reading at home, is a priceless gift you can give to your child.
We have an exciting year ahead in our “Imagine Tomorrow Together” visioning and strategic planning. This is the first step in taking all of the successes Santa Clara Unified has been accomplishing and furthering propelling our transformational work as we rebuild and enhance 21st-century teaching and learning. This work will put our schools and Santa Clara Unified on the map for providing the very best in education for its children, not only in Silicon Valley but in the nation.
As part of our planning, I encourage you to take a few minutes to complete our survey, which closes at midnight on December 22.
Additionally, please visit our learning journey website to explore future trends and innovations in learning that we are thinking about. The site takes between one to three hours to explore.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to wish you a very merry and happy holiday season! Enjoy this time with your family and friends. I wish you all good health and the hope that 2020 is the best year yet for the Santa Clara Unified learning community. School resumes for students on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
With Warm Regards,
Stella M. Kemp, Ed.D.
