Even though our family has been extremely careful with COVID precautions, we contracted the virus in early July from the kids' piano teacher who didn't know she was sick. Caleb started feeling sick a few days later and we thought he had Strep. We were surprised to find out he actually had COVID. Becky then got tested immediately since she is a frontline worker as a nurse and also came back positive. At that point we had all started developing symptoms and we began our two week quarantine as a family. Honestly, it was scary to find out we all had the virus, not knowing how our bodies would react. Even so, we prayed with our kids and reminded ourselves that this didn't take God by surprise. We are so thankful for those who prayed for us during that time. We know God protected us from developing serious symptoms. I am still feeling some lingering headaches but the kids and Becky have thankfully fully recovered. We have been cleared to get back to normal life and Becky has returned to work at the hospital.
We have not had the privilege of visiting many of you in person for some years now. Being that travel is a bit difficult these days with COVID, we would like to try catching up with you via video chat. We'd love to hear (and see) how you are doing, what the Lord's been doing in an through your lives, and learn how we can pray for you. Please let us know when would be a good time for you, and we can use whatever platform is best: Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp, FaceTime, Messenger. It would be a delight to see you and hear from you. Just reply to this email or send a text to us at 630.850.0535 to let us know what works for you.
Thankfully, I have been able to continue working though my travels have all been cancelled. Much of what I do not is virtual or internet based, so I am thankful for the following video that TEAM produced on Creation Care. Click on the picture below to check it out.
With the world devastated by the physical and economical impacts of COVID, I am reminded even more of how important caring for creation is to provide for the livelihoods of people.
Though Becky is still quite young, she has bad hip arthritis and needs a right hip replacement. It has been postponed twice this year due to COVID but is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 14th. She needs to have two negative COVID tests before surgery, per the surgery center's policy. Please pray all the details will work out and that God's will would be done. If her tests come back positive she will have to reschedule for later in the fall. Please pray for peace as we wait on these results to know whether surgery will happen now or later.
School in TN starts sooner than many other states, so we too have started back at homeschooling this week. The kids are in 7th, 5th, 3rd, and 1st! Please pray with us that they would grow in knowledge this year and also deepen their relationships with the Lord.
