Why does Creation Care matter to the Gospel?

What does caring for creation have to do with sharing the good news about Jesus with others? I would answer: " Everything!"

This past November, I spent one week with a short-term couple visiting our missions work in La Paz, Mexico. We spent time doing beach cleanup with non-Christians and visiting some beautiful parts of God's creation. We interacted with people who might never have taken part in biblical fellowship or have had opportunities to hear the gospel. Yet, they ARE interested in environmental issues in their city, and our missionaries have spent time building relationships with them while caring for creation. Whether through beach and mangrove cleanup, hours spent kayaking, or snorkeling and scuba diving, these unreached/unchurched people have seen Jesus in our missionaries as they care for God's world, and many have come to Christ. As they see the improving health of the coral reefs and aquatic animals returning to the region, they are also seeing creation rejoice and sing praises to God in their part of the world (Psalm 148).

So Creation Care matters because people's lives are changed by the power of the gospel as we spend time with people and care for God's creation.

How can you be living and preaching Jesus where you live, to the unchurched and unreached around you? The time you invest in relationships with people as you live out your faith will never be wasted.
