Travels, Travails, and Triumphs

So much has happened over the last few months that we figured it would be easier to tell you in a timeline fashion with pictures. So follow along below!
Trip to Washington D.C.
One week after Lilianna got her body cast off from her hip injury, we headed up to Washington, D.C. to visit some good friends. We had a wonderful time reconnecting and visiting the capital for the first time with the kids. The picture above is inside the Natural History Museum.
15 Year Anniversary
August 30th marked our 15 year wedding anniversary! We celebrated by going on a 12.6 mile hike in the Smoky Mountains and swimming in the refreshing water of Abram's Falls. We look forward to the years and adventures to come!
Appendectomy for David!
In early September, David (6 yrs old) starting complaining about his tummy hurting. After one particularly rough night Becky took him to the ER but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. On the way home, Becky got in a car accident but thankfully neither her nor David were injured. That afternoon our nurse practitioner sent David back to the hospital for a CT-scan and found his appendix was inflamed. He spent the night at the hospital and had an appendectomy the next day.
Trip to Los Angeles
A week after David's surgery, I (Ben) translated for the leadership of the Brazilian University I had spoken at in June. We visited four different Christian universities in California, meeting with the administration of each university and discussing the integration of faith in learning. It was great to spend time with Brazilian brothers and sisters and serve them in this capacity. Read more about my time in California here.
While I (Ben) was in California, Becky's mom came to TN to help with the kids and do special art projects. After a fun-filled week, Nana took Uma, our dog, back with her to NY to watch her during our upcoming travels out west.  We are so thankful for Nana's love and care for our entire family, dog included!
Trip to Wyoming
In October, we drove as a family from our home in Maryville, TN all the way to Douglas, Wyoming to visit many of our supporters who live there. Two and a half days driving each way meant we had LOTS of family bonding time. We left on October 3rd and returned home on the 19th. The photos below were some of our stops.
While in Douglas (where I was born), I spoke to the youth at First Baptist Church (where my dad pastored after his seminary days). I explained what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in the context of stewarding His creation. I enjoyed seeing the kids laugh, have fun, and grasp the concept of stewardship.
Only a few days into our visit to Wyoming, Lilianna had a sudden seizure. The ER doctor was a believer and had actually been a missionary in Central America for years. He determined that Lilianna had a febrile seizure brought on by a developing ear infection. We are following up regarding this seizure with a pediatric neurologist here in TN. We are so thankful for a great small town ER experience and the staff that helped Lilianna.
During our time in WY, we also got to spend time with my (Ben) parents, celebrate Caleb's 11th birthday, make new friends, and enjoy God's creation! We are so thankful for all of the memories we made.
Bacheller Family Reunion
A week and a half after our return from WY we drove up to the Chicago suburbs for a quick family reunion. All of my (Ben's) family was there--from Brazil, to TN, to Boston, MA. It was quite a busy weekend with all 25 of us celebrating birthdays, a new baby on the way, special cousin time and catching up on life from the past few years. We were sad to say goodbye but thankful for the time to reconnect.
Some people like to say: "When it rains, it pours." We agree. But in a different way--we believe that God allows suffering as well as times of  joy to draw us closer to him. It's His promise to never leave us nor forsake us that keeps us going. We have so much to praise God for! Lilianna is running around and playing as if she never dislocated her hip. Her seizure has not affected her. David was up and playing soccer just one week after his appendectomy! We have been able to spend special time with those we love. In all of our travels, God has kept us safe! Even in the trials (travails), God is faithful.

Thank you for your prayers and giving on behalf of our ministry. We couldn't do it without you!
