Dear Associate Members of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia,
As part of our on-going efforts to keep you informed on our activities and upcoming special events, we will periodically be bringing you this email Newsletter entitled “Yours in Song.” I would be very grateful to hear your feedback (or contributions of share-worthy items). Please send all your ideas for future newsletter articles to

This issue will cover the following topics:

After a run interrupted by a nearby fire and blizzard, this year’s Revels had a triumphant closing-night performance and party on Saturday, Feb. 6th. Although the various plagues made it feel some days like a biblical epic, the story of “The Farce Awakens” could not have been more timely or topical – in spite of the best efforts of “George Lucas”. Our thanks go to Chairman Jonathan Turner and his talented and hard-working cast and crew for bringing us wonderful entertainment. And our deepest apologies go to those Associates who could not re-schedule reservations nullified by the unfortunate circumstances.  We look forward to reprising some of the best numbers from the show for you at the Spring Concert on Wed. May 11th at Verizon Hall.

For this year’s Mid-Winter Concert, we are returning to the elegant Union League of Philadelphia. We have taken steps to improve audience sight lines in the grand Lincoln Hall.

The Union League will have its normal hosted coat check open on the first floor, but to alleviate lines and waiting will also have un-hosted coat racks available on the second floor just outside of Lincoln Hall. Like last year, The Union League will have a cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres near Lincoln Hall from 7:45 until 8:20pm and during Intermission.

As you know, parking in the Union League's lot can be quite crowded. We suggest that you utilize other nearby parking facilities, several of which are listed here on our web site.
In the lead up to the concert we were most concerned about standing room, as we had overcrowding with the one-night concert last year. We have therefore scheduled TWO performances of the concert program on Wednesday, March 2nd and Thursday, March 3rd. The tickets mailed to you last week may be used for either performance.

Thank you to all who responded to our online survey which helped us to devise an accurate seating plan for our two performances. Right now the demand is evenly split between the two nights, and we expect to see you on the night you have indicated. We have a fun and varied program in store for you and look forward to entertaining you next week!

It was wonderful to see so many Associates at Revels decked out in the OC Cummerbund and Associate Bow Tie. See them to the left as worn by Val Sauri, Co-Chair of the Associate Member Advisory Council (AMAC).
Our "Colors" have proven very popular, and we have only SEVEN sets remaining.

If you’re hoping to attend the Mid-Winter concert in full regalia, please download this form.

Likewise, we still have some Associate neckties (worn by Duncan Grant, right) that will be perfect for the non-black tie Quartet Contest (see below). Remaining inventory will also be available at our information table at the March concerts.

The Second Annual OCQC will conclude with the Associate-judged Finals on Saturday, April 16th at the Clubhouse. Please mark your calendars. An email invitation will be going to all Associates early in March.

Seating will be limited to approximately 100, so a prompt responses will be in order. We were sold out last year!
This will be a cocktail-attire event, e.g. suit and Associate necktie. Open-bar cocktails will begin upstairs at 5:30pm; a short show will start at 6:30pm followed by the finalist quartet performances! While your votes are being tallied enjoy more music and cocktail downstairs until the festivities end around 9:00pm.
NOTE: DVD’s of last year’s event will be available for pickup on the 16th and can be billed to your Associate account.

We’re setting sail for Bermuda once again and want you to join us! The 2016 “Songs of the Sea” Bermuda Cruise is a seven-day cruise on Celebrity’s “Summit” leaving from and returning to Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ.

Singers and guests will dine together in the ship’s main dining room. Evening attire is required for dinner. In addition, a party at a private estate is being planned while in Bermuda for an additional fee. We hope you will join us for more singing and merriment at this unique venue TBD.

The Orpheus Singing Membership would not have the opportunity to make their music without the loyalty, warmth of spirit, and generosity of our fellow Associate Members. You are all such fun to entertain, and we really appreciate your support. I wanted to remind you that all Associates have the opportunity to share the Orpheus experience with their friends and colleagues by proposing new members. Simply have the candidate complete this form and mail it to the address indicated; OR email the information to Alfred Bergbauer at You will be notified after your candidate has been elected.
Expanding the base of Associates will enable the Orpheus Club to remain financially sound and allow us to enhance our entertainment programs. We are eager to add new events for us all to enjoy. Additional information, forms, and Associate Membership Benefits brochures will be available to take with you at the Mid-Winter concerts. PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN THIS VITAL PROGRAM.
As an added thank you, all Associates who have proposed new members will be invited to the exclusive New Member Party to be held at the Clubhouse on Friday, May 13th. All new Associate Members will also be invited.

We continue to prosper as a musical organization by attracting talented new men to the ranks of the Singing Membership. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the ten men who have been elected so far in the 2015-2016 season. We urge you to introduce yourselves to them and welcome them to our Club.
