Yours In Song - Issue No. 17

March 2018

Greetings to Members of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia!

SEVENTEEN days until Spring! Hang in there, but first, come enjoy our “Mid-Winter” Concert. Catch up on details of that and other upcoming special events below. This issue will cover the following topics:

Our Mid-Winter Concert

By this time, you should all have received your four tickets per membership. Your tickets may be used either night and may be used together or split between the nights. IN ORDER TO HELP US AVOID OVERCROWDING, PLEASE INDICATE HOW MANY TICKTS YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE EACH NIGHT.

The program theme for evening is “Songs of the Sea,” and there will be a surprise guest group to help us conger up the images of nautical adventure, white sand beaches and tropical breezes.

On both nights, Lincoln Hall (on the 2nd floor) will open at 8pm for unreserved seating and a concert start time of 8:30pm.  Present your tickets for admission.

New Special Event – Orpheus Karaoke Night

Friday, March 22, at the Clubhouse Cabaret

Whatever your musical fantasy, you will now be able to choose from a library of 25,000 songs to finally make it come true – in front of your friends.

From 7 to 11pm on March 22, in an intimate cabaret setting, Associate Members will (finally!) get to become the entertainers and step on the Orpheus stage to present their favorite songs.

Come dressed in “party casual” (or as your admired musical star), enjoy an open bar and delicious cabaret fare, sing for us all and cheer on your fellow performers.

Fifty-six seats at cabaret tables (for four) are available for $75 each, and 19 places in row seating (at the back of the house) are available for $60 each, to be charged to your Associate Member account.  Cancellations will be accepted 48 hours prior to the event.

Reservations are now OPEN!

Contact Tim Ratner at 267.255.7400 or at with questions or send your reservation request – please include names of all in the party and a cell phone number. Limit of four (4) per reservation.

2019 Revels

Each night of the recent Revels run, Chairman Matt Lewis (pictured on the left, with a skeptical TJ Griffin) got to explain to us all how to deliver the magic of musical theatre – and  the full cast of 16 talented players got to demonstrate it for a little more than an hour of pure, unpredictable (and almost unimaginable) FUN!   If you missed it, you missed a really good show.  (Some generous folks said “Best EVER!”)  But you will get another chance to hear many of the musical highlights in our traditional “Revels Reprise” section of the Spring Concert, on May 8 at Verizon Hall.

We are very grateful to Matt for organizing (and contributing to) this creative tour de force and to Director Sam Griffin for such a polished, well-paced piece of unique Orpheus entertainment. Now, all they have to do is top it next year!

Reminder - OC Colors Have Arrived!

Both Bow Ties and Cummerbunds are now available.   The Bow being sported here by AMAC co-chair Val Sauri has the crest-only Associate pattern, and the Cummerbund has the unique, combined Associate Crest and Singing Member Stipes design worn by ALL Orpheus members.   Each item is $50, and the set is $100 – billable to your member account.

Pick up your items at the Information Table outside Lincoln Hall on both concert nights, or get your orders in to Maureen at, and we’ll work out delivery.
