Last week we sent you an update regarding the Federal Government shutdown and its potential impact on charitable giving through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). We continue to monitor activities during this time.

While a very small number of campaign activities have been conducted, most CFC campaign activities and events are on hold. We have received word that the team managing the CFC National Capital Area has suspended normal campaign operations during the shutdown, but they are getting ready to ramp up the campaign as soon as the government reopens. We will continue to monitor activities and inform you of any significant changes. In the meantime, if you have questions about campaign events, please contact the campaign coordinator or the America's Charities staff listed below.

Links to two articles from the philanthropic media on the possible impact on the CFC of the government shutdown are below. Again, we are monitoring developments, including the possibility of seeking an extension of the campaign to mitigate the effects of the shutdown.

Business as Usual Regarding 2014 CFC Applications

The CFC applications for the 2014 campaign have been released. We are pleased to report that these contain none of the major changes OPM proposed this past spring. Your main point of contact in Member and Campaign Services will be reaching out later this month with the application, instructions and time frames for completion.
