CFC & Government Shutdown Inquiries

There is some media interest regarding the Combined Federal Campaign in light of the government shutdown.  If you hear from a reporter, please let us know and direct them to us for comment.  If you choose to comment, click here for “talking points” to help guide you.

Hopefully these talking points will provide you with messaging you can use if contacted by the media or other stakeholders such as staff and board members.  Feel free to reach out to us for guidance on messaging or other questions you may have.  All media inquiries can come directly to me, Steve Delfin, with a cc: or phone alert to Lynne Filderman and Sarah Ford.  See the contact information at the bottom of this note.

Services and Programs for Federal Employees and Military Personnel

If your organization has programs and services that might be valuable to federal employees and military personnel, please let us know and also let us know the degree to which you are positioned to promote those services and effectively handle a higher volume of inquiries.  As the talking points address, many federal employees and military personnel and their families could be seeking services in the following and related areas:

  • Financial counseling and related
  • Housing and rent assistance
  • Food and shelter
  • Mental health/stress and related needs
  • Health assistance/co-pay needs

While many federal employees may not need services themselves, they may also appreciate help in finding such services for other members of their family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. who are struggling as a result of the furloughs.  Federal employees may also be interested in helping serve others. So let us know of any short-term volunteer opportunities you have.  This is a great way to engage potential donors.

Finally, you may want to communicate with your CFC donors and thank them for their past support.

If you have any questions, need additional information, help with your approach or other guidance, do not hesitate to contact us. The primary contacts are noted below.
