Loyola 2022 Congress | Newsletter n.7
Edmond Grace SJ, current coordinator of the Eco-Jesuits Europe network, together with Xavier de Benazé, Laudato Si´ Delegate of the EOF Province (French speaking Province of Western Europe), invite us to join the Loyola 2022 Justice and Ecology Congress.
News
The fifth and final ignatian European justice network involved in the Loyola Congress is Eco-jesuits Europe, a part of of the global Eco-jesuits network. In the invitational video of this edition, the Irish network coordinator Edmond Grace SJ and the French scholastic Xavier de Benazé SJ explain some of the goals of Eco-Jesuits: “to foster a sense of community and create opportunities for common action among the Jesuit family, to promote the teachings of Pope Francis in the Laudate Si', to serve and work with the poor and others for the protection and care for our Common Home as part of God’s creation”. Edmond is currently based in the Jesuit European Social Centre (JESC) in Brussels, and Xavier, while preparing for his priestly ordination (that will happen shortly after the Congress) works as the Laudato Si' Delegate of the EOF Province.

Caring for our Common Home is in fact one of the 2020-2029 Universal Apostolic Preferences of the jesuits worldwide, and many Jesuit Provinces like EOF are taking this call very seriously, specially by the younger generations. Together with Xavier, several other European Jesuit scholastics, still in their formation stages, are engaged in the Eco-jesuits and other ecology networks, and some of them will also be present in the Congress. As someone from the Organizing Team once put it, “in Loyola, the sharing of the views and concerns of the younger participants will be of no less importance than the knowledge and experience of the more experiencied ones”. And we look forward to it.
