This week's featured collector is Maciek, 18, from Zabrze in Poland. Maciek supports his local team Gornik Zabrze and Liverpool. Older Manchester City fans may remember their team playing Gornik in the Cup Winners Cup final back in 1970. Maciej has been collecting football figures for seven years and currently has nearly 1,200 which can be seen below including repaints and figures that he makes himself! Maciek's favourite SoccerStarz are Petr Cech because of his protective headgear and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. As a Liverpool fan he is looking forward to seeing new figures like Coutinho and hopefully Jose Enrique and Henderson. Back in February, Maciek was the lucky winner of the SoccerStarz Tesco Europe competition where he won 50 SoccerStarz including Ferguson, Bale  and Hazard to name a few. Maciek runs two very informative Facebook collector pages:

Greg was the first to answer Rivaldo and in doing so won three SoccerStarz. He chose Gary Hooper, Gonzalo Higuain and Lucas Leiva of Celtic, Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively. Congratulations Greg.

It was also announced that the Wednesday lunch time quiz will be getting a new name. It is now called The Lunch Crunch Quiz and this can be found on Twitter or by searching for the hashtag.

The SoccerStarz team were at the annual Pat Staunton Hotspur Cup at Spurs Lodge in Chigwell, Essex organised by Tottenham Hotspur. Emma, Phoenix, Dom and Hugh were on hand to give out blind bags to over 1,000 lucky fans from a far afield as Denmark. The tournament was for U8 - U13's with Spurs legend Gary Mabbutt present and was lucky enough to get his photo taken with Hugh ;). The tournament was a great success and the SoccerStarz team were kept busy as the raffle and penalty competition were extremely popular. Even Spurs mascot, Chirpy the cockerel, was seen taking a cheeky penalty! Check out our blog for more!

  • Manchester City have been the big spenders this summer, bringing in Fernandinho of Shakhtar Donetsk. Jesus Navas is also on his way to the Citizens from Spanish club Sevilla
  • Roberto Martinez has been unveiled as new manager of Everton. Martinez left FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic to replace outgoing manager David Moyes
  • England under 21 side conceded for the first time in nine games as Lorenzo Insigne's 78th minute free-kick condemned them to a 1-0 defeat in the opening game of the Under 21's European Championship in Israel. England went on to lose both their remaining games against Norway and Israel that has brought a premature end to their participation in the tournament.
