THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The Mighty Uke Day 7 Fundraiser was a big success, thanks to all of you who attended. We raised over $1700, which will go a long way to help kickstart our ever-expanding festival. I even received not one, but two sashes along with a proclamation certifying me as the Ukulele Ambassador of Michigan! Big shout-outs to everyone who attended, helped out, donated or bought silent auctions items and other merch, and for those who lent their talents on the stage. Looking forward to seeing you all at Mighty Uke Day 7 in May, it's going to be a mighty one  indeed!

Mighty Uke Day 7 is just around the corner and this promises to be the mightiest uke day, ever! The seventh year of the event will feature “The Women of the Great Uke State” with Rachael Davis headlining the festival Friday, May 12 and Heidi Swedberg and Daniel Ward headlining Saturday, May 13. Opening the shows will be Michigan musicians Marlowe, Julianna Wilson, Olivia Millerschin, Gerald Ross & Frank Youngman, and The Ukulele Kings. The weekend’s events will conclude with an acoustic performance by Heidi and Daniel on Sunday, May 14. Special pre-show concerts at Elderly Instruments will feature Jennifer Barnett on Friday and The Fabulous Heftones Saturday.

The weekend kicks off with a flash mob at noon Friday, May 12 and an appearance by what has been certified by Guinness as the world’s largest playable ukulele. Other events leading up the weekend and during it include a CATA Bus Flash Mob and an interdenominational “Uke-Charist” service.

Events will be held in historic and picturesque Old Town Lansing. Many of the day’s activities are free of charge. Tickets for the concerts and workshops are sold ala carte and are available in advance online and at the door during the festival.

A silent auction of ukuleles and accessories and other proceeds from the festival will benefit Music is the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports a variety of music programs in Mid-Michigan classrooms and communities. (
