New resources and webinars

Following the publication of new resources developed in collaboration with General Practice Supervisors Australia and Dr Ruth McNair AM, we are pleased to share our new health and wellbeing page, and announce a new webinar for Intersex Day of Solidarity on Monday 8 November.

We also invite you to join our campaign with Equality Australia, calling for laws in every state and territory to end harmful practices on children with intersex variations in medical settings.

Join the campaign for reform

Following on from publication of a major report by the Australian Human Rights Commission on protecting the human rights of people born with variations of sex characteristics in medical settings, Intersex Human Rights Australia and LGBTIQ+ legal group, Equality Australia, have launched a national campaign to call for implementation of legislative and regulatory recommendations: My Body, My Choice.

YOUth&I webinar: 8 November

We are pleased to announce a new, free webinar for Intersex Day of Solidarity on the Monday 8 November, with Step Lum, Georgia Andrews and Gabrielle Niemeyer.

YOUth&I is an intersex youth publication with contributions from around the world. Through poetry, essays, drawings and photos, YOUth&I shares the stories and experiences of young intersex people and their relationships with themselves and the people around them. Founder and editor-in-chief Steph Lum, stakeholder manager Georgia Andrews and graphic designer Gabrielle Niemeyer will discuss the publication, how it has grown and the process of involving intersex people in all stages of development. We will also share some entries from Issue 1 which can be accessed for free at: https://darlington.org.au/youthandi/

Health and wellbeing

We are pleased to announce publication of our new introduction to the health and wellbeing of people with innate variations of sex characteristics, for general practitioners and other doctors.

This resource was developed for a collaboration with General Practice Supervisors Australia and Dr Ruth McNair AM and, like all our resources, it is reviewed by a subcommittee of our staff and board, including a bioethicist, surgeon, health law expert and education expert.

The page also contains summary information on additional Australian intersex-specific healthcare resources.
