Geomagnetic Disturbance Alert Update

Geomagnetic Disturbance Alert Update

20th February 2023

British Geological Survey

A possible weak sudden impulse seen on the BGS magnetograms on the 18th of February at 10:56 may have been the overdue coronal mass ejection from the 15th, however the impact on geomagnetic activity was very little if any.

The Earth has encountered a glancing blow from another CME this morning. So far this has not lead to any significant disturbances, but there may still be a possibility for an increase in geomagnetic activity.
