The 2017 MRPC Semi-Annual Meeting will be held April 19-21 in Paducah KY, a UNESCO Creative City. We have a full agenda planned, as well as time set aside to explore this beautiful segment of the Mississippi corridor.

Later this month, the Mississippi River Parkway Commission will launch its 2017 Birding Bonanza Giveaway, an annual spring push to promote birdwatching along the Mississippi River and the Great River Road. 2016 Annual report
2016 was another strong year for our promotional efforts and the success is detailed in the MRPC 2016 Annual Report.
Here are a few highlights:
- The website continues to see strong growth in audience. The site received 481,542 page views in 2016, a 15 percent increase over 2015.
- We more than doubled our Facebook fan numbers in 2016, thanks to a successful Facebook advertising campaign and three successful promotions.
- Our 2016 promotions received more than 3,000 combined entries, adding more than 7,500 fans to our Facebook page and 4,500 people to our e-newsletter list.

MRPC Honorary Member Garland Hayes passed away Feb. 9. A retired businessman with a personality as big as Arkansas, Garland devoted more than 50 years of his life to service. He contributed to many local and national causes, including the MRPC, where he served a number of important roles, including State Chairman and National Treasurer. Garland was a true friend and contributor to the MRPC and he will be missed.
