Dixon Campus

The mission of the International School of Louisiana is to provide a challenging education emphasizing language immersion, international awareness, the celebration of diversity and community responsibility.
Language All Around

My name is Adair Moseley, and I am the Speech-Language Pathologist at the International School of Louisiana (Uptown and Dixon Campuses). I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and currently reside uptown with my husband, our son, Miles, and our dog, Paco. I attended the University of Alabama where I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing with a Specialization in Global Business. After a few years of working for a business development firm, I decided to return to school to earn my Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. I attended the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center where I received a graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Since then, I’ve worked mainly with children in the private, clinic, and school settings.

What is a Speech-Language Pathologist?
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) is a highly-trained professional who evaluates and treats children and adults who have difficulty with speech or language. Although people often think of speech and language as the same thing, the terms actually have very
different meanings. If your child has trouble with speech, he/she struggles with the “how-to” of talking – the coordination of the muscles and movements necessary to produce speech.
If your child has trouble with language, he/she struggles with understanding what he/she hears or sees. Your child may struggle to find the right words and/or organize those words in a meaningful way to communicate a message or hold a conversation.

What do SLPs treat?
Below is a list of common speech and language disorders with a brief explanation of each.

Speech Disorders
- Articulation – the way we say our speech sounds
- Phonology – the speech patterns we use
- Fluency - stuttering
- Voice – problems with the way our voice sounds, such as hoarseness Language Disorders
- Receptive Language – difficulty understanding language
- Expressive Language – difficulty using language
- Pragmatic Language – social communication; the way we speak to each other

If you are concerned with your child’s development of speech and/or language skills, please feel free to contact me so that we can discuss your concerns.

Thank you,
Adair Moseley, CCC-SLP
