The team at Val's and Rainbow Health Victoria hope that all our service providers, staff and consumers are remaining safe, well and supported during this challenging period. 

In this brief news update we will provide some information to assist service providers and individuals to remain informed, safe and connected. While these are indeed difficult times, it is amazing to see the tremendous resourcefulness, creativity and goodwill of services, programs and individuals in working to support older LGBTI people. 

We have provided some information and links in this news to assist you with LGBTI inclusive practice and your continued support of  LGBTI elders. We realise there is an abundance of information at present and that many services supporting older people are extremely busy, therefore we will keep the news brief however for updates and to stay connected, follow our social media platforms for ongoing information.

Professional Development during COVID19
Over the past weeks both Rainbow Health Victoria (RHV) and Val's have worked to adapt our LGBTI awareness and professional development opportunities so that we can continue to provide education and training remotely (e.g. Zoom), as well as RHVs online training module. Events to connect
LGBTI Digital Dance Club 
Online this Sunday 2pm 
Maintaining social connection and having fun has never been so important. All the Queens Men has not let the pandemic stop Dance Club. It's gone Digital and no matter where you are you can join in fortnightly. See you each Sunday fortnight (this Sunday 19/4) -  and please share with LGBTI elders, friends and allies. Details and instructions are available… here
Seminar Melbourne
Tim Johnston SAGE USA
In early March Dr Tim R Johnston from SAGE USA - was in Melbourne and provided two seminars. We hope to share the LGBT inclusive practice seminar soon, but are pleased to be able to share the RMIT Philosophies of Difference podcast of the seminar focusing on LGBT social isolation and loneliness, something more pertinent than ever. Older lesbians
Then & Now
A number of years ago Val's developed a series of videos, one of which documented the stories of older lesbians. Recently Loddon Mallee sector development team, and Val's developed a resource to be used with the video.Video here, resource here.
