IAM Networking: National Urban League Conference #RedeemtheDream

IAM President Felicia Harris @Felicia_Dawn and IAM Supporter Danielle Jeter, President of Affairs of Isis @affairsofisis, were both in attendance for #redeemthedream. Each appeared live on WURD 900AM Financial Voices Radio to talk about their businesses and the importance of organizations like NUL and the African American Chamber of Commerce (@official_AACC) to business' like their own.

IAM Connected: Rising Sons
This month, IAM encourages you to connect with our community partner Rising Sons, a nonprofit helping young men ages 18-30 become qualified for competitive jobs through civic engagement .Under the leadership of its Founder and President Alex Peay@Rising_Sons now has 19 dedicated members who help run five after school programs and ongoing community engagement projects. 

Alex is a recipient of the John S. & James L Knight Foundation’s Black Male Engagement Award, A United Way Philly Root’s Fellow, City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Award for Outstanding National Service Alumni, and member of the Mayor’s Commission of African American Men.

Recently, @Rising_Sons was featured in the January 2013 issue of Black Enterprise Magazine. Join Alex and @Rising_Sons this Saturday, August 17th for their 2nd Annual Family Day Cookout from 1pm-6pm on 17th and Ridge Ave. On Saturday, August 31st from 1pm-6pm @Rising_Sons will be hosting a Young Male Leaders Brunch at City Hall in the Council Caucus for males ages 18-30. RSVP HERE

IAM Mentoring: Danita Jones
The Influencing Action Movement would like to give a special thanks to IAM Girl Talk Mentor Danita Jones!

@DNitaJones dedication to mentoring the ladies in our program and volunteering at IAM events can not go without recognition.

A native of Houston, Texas, @DNitaJones is a graduate of Temple University with a BA in Psychology and is currently pursuing a MBA from Eastern University@DNitaJones interest in helping youth succeed grew while working as a Human Resources Coordinator for VILLA, a leading Urban Retailer.

@DNitaJones is a Human Resources Coordinator for Family Practice & Counseling Network and is also a Philly Grad Coach. She will soon launch a website called PROSTYL: Professionals Supporting Young Leaders. The website will be a tool for youth of all ages to obtain resources on the latest employment news and advice on careers from other professionals.
