Georgia Trade-Up Graduates First All-Women Pre-Apprenticeship Class

On October 9 EC Atlanta partner Georgia Trade-Up graduated its first all-women class of pre-apprentices. Trade-Up Women is a pre-apprenticeship program that trains low-skill, low-wealth, women for construction trades and technical crafts. ECC President Denise Fairchild gave remarks at the ceremony. Seattle's PACT Dinner Highlights Real Opportunities for Apprentices


On October 5, the Seattle Vocational Institute’s (SVI) Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) program held its 13th Annual Dinner and Auction. The PACT program leads Washington in apprentice resources, placing students in ironwork, carpentry, and more. ECC President Denise Fairchild gave the keynote speech and the dinner, which honored 37 graduates, highlighting in particular the moving account of Student Speaker Randy Litch. Atlanta Team Audits Peachtree Center Complex


On October 30, Emerald Cities Atlanta initiated its large scale commercial building assessment and retrofit program in downtown Atlanta by joining the team conducting a comprehensive energy audit of the Peachtree Center Complex. The energy audit team consists of over twenty-two professionals, experts and specialists from thirteen different organizations. Read more > 

Board Spotlight


October 2 marked the celebration of Youthbuild’s 35th anniversary. For 35 years, YouthBuild has been helping low-income young people ages 16 to 24 work full-time for 6 to 24 months toward their GEDs or high school diplomas while learning job skills by building affordable housing in their communities.
