Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘hello’ to those of you who I haven’t yet met. My name is Beki Cansdale and I am the Mixed Mode student here at St John's. I’m training for ministry with the Scottish Episcopal Church, and I have the pleasure of being with you all for the next two years. Over my time here I will be specifically looking at mission and evangelism, as well as joining in with church worship and a number of other church events. One of the things that I am very passionate about is supporting and discipling young people.
I am aware that at the moment there is very little on offer for young people at church, and this is something I would love to help with. At the moment I envisage running a youth event once or twice a month. My hope is that this can be a space where young people are discipled in their faith and challenged to have a missional/evangelistic outlook within their own contexts.
In order to get know the young people, and for them to get to know me, I am planning a trip to Nando’s. I am aware that the school holiday’s are almost upon us, so I am suggesting that we go to the Nando’s on Lothian Road, 3pm-5pm on Sunday 28th October, (full address below). As this is the first event in a long time, St John’s will cover the cost of food for everyone.
Please let me know if your young person would like to attend so that I can get an idea of numbers. If there are any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to email me, or catch me after a Sunday service. I’m away this weekend but I am typically at the 9:30am, 10:30am and 6pm services.
