The women and men of the Gidget board and committee for their personal muscle power and for supplying their children for child labour and their friends and family members who could pull up carpets, clean, had painting expertise, constructed all sorts of furniture and had a big car to take a few serious loads of big rubbish to the tip. Thanks also for the coffees and wonderful food that was supplied to keep us all going!The Gidget Foundation will soon be able to facilitate a new and much needed service to support mothers, fathers and families on the North Shore of Sydney.

Emotional Wellbeing Program @ North Shore Private Hospital funded through a grant from the nib foundation
Dr Jane Kohlhoff, a researcher funded through Karitane to work with the Gidget Foundation presented a paper on this program at the Marce conference. Jane presented an interesting and insightful paper that highlighted the success and challenges of the program along with some interesting data. Her presentation inspired discussion and much ongoing interest.This program at NSPH is running alongside similar programs that are operating within the public hospital system around Australia. Antenatal mental health screening is recommended for all pregnant women by the Perinatal Mental Health Clinical Practice Guidelines (2011)
The Gidget Foundation together with PANDA sponsored the conference breakfast. Speakers included MasterChef Australia finalist Samira El Khafir, PANDA CEO Belinda Horton, From the Heart WA President Judi Barrett-Lennard and Cathie Knox from the Gidget Foundation.The 6 perinatal mental health consumer organisations from across Australia were represented and a booklet outlining activities of this group was provided to the clinicians and researchers in attendance. Winners of our Ladies' Lunch Raffle 'Ultimate Girls' Day Out' enjoy their day on the Harbour
Ten lucky ladies enjoyed a lovely day being primped and pampered with professional hair and makeup and then whisked away to enjoy a one hour cruise on Sydney Harbour, sipping champagne and taking in the views en route to Manly Cove. They then lunched at Hugos Manly. 'The Gidget Team treated us to an amazing day of fun in the name of an important cause. We all felt lucky to be on the harbour, and then to enjoy lunch at Hugo's.
