It's been a big few months for the Gidget Foundation!

We've continued our work educating, advocating and caring for pregnant women and new parents. We’ve also organised various events to help raise awareness and fund our work. Thank you as always for your support. The next big event on the calendar is Postnatal Depression Awareness Week from 13-19 November. Please help us to promote the importance of emotional wellbeing for expectant and new parents in your local community.

Gidget House

Our wonderful psychologists have had over 3,500 appointments and cared for over 630 individual patients since we opened our free service at Gidget House in North Sydney. Following is some feedback from a Mum who attended Gidget House. It’s nice to know that the service is appreciated and making a difference to new parents.
  • “I wanted to write a massive thank you to Gidget House as I truly believe my sessions there are the reason why I have enjoyed so much being a mum this time around. This massive thank you also extends to my therapist who really helped me understand where some of the issues were coming from and provided me with tools to help overcome the sometimes overwhelming feelings that come with motherhood (and exhaustion)."
Gidget House via skype
Free appointments with Gidget House psychologists are available via Skype. Please contact us on (02)9460 1550 or on 1300 851 758 if you would like to organise an appointment. We will be officially launching our Skype service next February in Orange. Please let us know if you would like to attend the launch.
Emotional Wellbeing Program
The Program is up and running at the Mater Hospital. We’ve trained some fantastic midwives who are now taking appointments with pregnant women. The midwives assess emotional wellbeing and are able to provide support and resources should a woman need them.

A Special Thank You!
A special thank you to Professor Bryanne Barnett who has provided professional guidance and personal support to the Gidget community for many years.  Her wealth of expertise ensures our clinical programs are evidence based and our health professionals feel supported. For that we are extremely grateful.
Gidget Education
Ongoing education is provided for medical students, GPs and midwives.  We also continue to provide resources to community groups and workplaces.
International Marce Society
The 2016 conference was held in Melbourne and included a presentation on our unique Gidget House service.  The Gidget Foundation hosted the conference breakfast where delegates were entertained and inspired by Gidget Chair, Dr Vijay Roach.
Baby and Toddler Show
This year the Gidget Foundation was included in the Advice Hub at the shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.  We also provided seminars to parents.  Hundreds of parents obtained general information, and many received personalised support from our wonderful Gidget health professionals who volunteered many hours.

You can make an online donation using the secure GiveNow website. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible and you will receive an automatic receipt. Your donation will be used to help fund Gidget Foundation initiatives and programs designed to raise awareness, provide information and offer support to families affected by perinatal anxiety and depression. We really appreciate every bit of support!
