EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES

Maine Medical Center
Seeking proposals for rotating art exhibit. The exhibit will hang for four months and interested viewers will be able to contact the artist to purchase works.

8th Annual Picnic Music+Arts Festival
Accepting applications from vendors who make unique crafts, art and photography, as well as vendors selling vintage goods. Held Saturday, August 1st from 11am-6pm in Lincoln Park.
Deadline: April 25

First Friday Art Walk: Converge
Converge invites artists and venues to set up installations, pop up galleries, sculptures, and performances in the Congress street festival zone on the evening of June 5th from 6-9pm while the street is closed off to traffic. Anyone and everyone is invited to sign up and participate in this event. We especially encourage participatory projects. The goal of FFAW Converge is to allow the artists to fully use the space to create a unique experience for participants in a low barrier way. 

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

MECA's summer course offerings of Continuing Studies are now open for registration.

 

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2015 Professional Development and Entrepreneurship Grants Awards. The grant helps BFA, MFA, and Art Ed students advance their studio and professional skills by accessing opportunities and experiences beyond the MECA classroom. 

 

Katherine Ackley '15, Printmaking, will use the grant to launch her start-up, Inky Blue.

Caitlin Ervin '16, Sculpture and Public Engagement Minor, will embark on a Public Engagement bike journey about environmental awareness.

Sara Inacio '17, Printmaking, will participate in Braddock Tiles, a project of the Heliotrope Foundation started by Swoon.

Jonathan Novak '15, Graphic Design, will get a membership for studio access at Open Bench Project.

Elana Sternick '16, Woodworking & Furniture Design, will attend the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.

Jacqueline Weichmann '15, Photography, will use the funds for marketing and self-promotion.

Tessa O’Brien,  MFA '16  will document the work of the organization she co-founded, The Portland Mural Initiative.

Veronica Perez, MFA '16,  will self-publish a catalogue and book of her new body of visual and written work.
