The Southern Boone School District is looking forward to the start of the new school year. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 6th. Below is information about online registration, school supply lists, free and reduced meal application, open house schedule and more!
Online Registration
The annual online registration for ALL Southern Boone students for the 2022-2023 school year is now open through the Parent Portal in Tyler SIS. This registration process includes:
- Allows you to electronically sign permissions/agreements that are required each year.
- Allows you to update family information (address change, phone number change, etc).
- Allows us to provide important information to families for the upcoming school year.

- Pre-Kindergarten Open House (Popsicles With Pals): Monday, August 29th
- Located on the Pre-K playground
- AM Class: 4:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- PM Class: 5:30 p.m. -6 p.m.
- Middle School Open House: Tuesday, August 30th | 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
- High School Open House: Tuesday, August 30th | 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
- Early Childhood Special Education Open House: Wednesday, August 31st | 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Free and Reduced Meal Application
With the new school year starting soon, the Southern Boone School District is urging families to complete the free or reduced meal application as part of the online registration process.
The Federal USDA Waiver that allowed school districts to provide meals at no cost to students has expired. The USDA did NOT extend the Federal Waiver for the upcoming school year.
Parents are asked to fill out the 2022-2023 Free and Reduced Meal Application for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. The school district is encouraging all families to fill out an application. Even if you think your family won’t qualify, your application can help the school district in many different areas including federal funding and qualifying for grants. Completing an application is the only way to be considered for free or reduced meals.
You can fill out the application online or download and print off a paper copy of the application. You can turn in the completed form to your child’s school office or central office.

Southern Boone School Board Meeting Highlig hts

Middle School Construction Project Update
In the north building, the old media center renovation has begun. This space will be converted into two new classrooms and storage rooms. In the south building, Prost Builders started hanging the new doors for all of the classrooms last week and are about 90% complete installing cabinets and countertops in the classrooms. This week, the flooring subcontractor will focus on installing the new flooring in the hallways. The school district will start moving classroom furniture back into the classrooms between the old central office and annex area.
Voters in the Southern Boone School District approved the $7.7 million bond issue in April 2021 for the middle school construction project. The project will connect the two buildings with the new addition, which consists of a new main office, science labs, library and vocational area. The project also includes converting the current office and library into additional classrooms, and other much-needed improvements to the middle school.

Fall Sports Informational Parent Meeting
The Southern Boone Athletics Department is preparing for another exciting school year of athletics. Parents are encouraged to attend the Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Sunday, August 7th at 6PM in the high school gym. During the meeting, parent/fan conduct, methods of communication related to athletics and other general information will be discussed.
The first day of practice for fall high school sports is Monday, August 8th. The first day of practice for fall middle school sports is Monday, August 15th.
All students participating in sports this upcoming school year will need to have a completed physical within the past two years on file and complete the MSHSAA Pre-participation Document, which must be completed each year. These forms will need to be filled out and turned in before the student can participate in practices. Students will need 14 practices before they can play in a game. Other School Announcements
The Southern Boone School District is now hiring for several positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Anyone that is interested and qualified can learn more and apply online at sbschools.us/employment.
The Southern Boone Learning Garden's Dine in the Dirt fundraiser is this Saturday evening!
MENU INCLUDES:
APPETIZERS: Mini caprice salads, dilly cucumber bites, zucchini pesto mini quiche.
DINNER: Pork with bbq sauce and buns, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh garden salad with garden-made dressing, buttered parsley potatoes, tomato & cucumber salad.
DESSERT: Strawberry shortcake.
BEVERAGES: Mint & lavender lemonade, strawberry lemonade, sweet tea & flavored water.

Fall Optimist Soccer Registration Now Open
Registration for Fall 2022 Optimist Soccer for grades 1st-8th is now open.
PreK-Kindergarten
All practices and games will be held in Ashland. The six-week season will begin on September 10. The cost for each child (pre-k and kindergarten) is $35 per player for the season. The registration deadline is August 3. Registration will only be accepted after August 3 if there are slots available on teams.
Grades 1-8
Practices will be held in Ashland and games will be held at the soccer fields off of Highway 63 in Jefferson City. (Some 6th-8th grade games may be played in towns in the mid-Missouri area.) The season will start on September 10th. The cost for each child ranges from $45 to $60 for the season. The registration deadline is July 29. Registrations will only be accepted after July 29 if there are slots available on teams.

Registration fees are limited to two entry fees per family. If registering more than 2 kids, make sure to get code to cap registration fees at 2.
If we have to cancel the season, we will issue refunds upon request. The deadline to request a refund, will be a month after the cancellation date.
