2023-2024 District Calendar Survey
The Southern Boone School District is working on the district calendar for the 2023-2024 school year and we would like to hear from you. As we look to balance instructional time for students, the professional learning needs of our staff, along with family and community priorities, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The survey will be open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023.
The school district has formed a calendar committee that will use the survey results to draft a proposed district calendar for the 2023-2024 school year. The proposed calendar will then be shared with parents, staff and the community to provide additional feedback before it is presented to the Board of Education for approval.

Kindergarten Registration for 2023-2024 School Year
Kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year will take place from January 4th through February 10th. Parents/guardians may register their student(s) at the primary school at 803 S Henry Clay Blvd. in Ashland, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The student does not need to be present to register. Kindergarten screening information will be sent out after the registration time period ends.
In order to be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five (5) years old prior to August 1st, 2023.
The following information will need to be documented:
- Proof of residency (i.e. rental/lease agreement, utility bill, etc.). Cell phone bills and medical bills will not be accepted.
- Current immunization records meeting Missouri Department. of Health guidelines
- Certified copy of Birth Certificate (We will make a copy and return your original)

Preschool Application for 2023-2024 School Year
Students that will be four (4) years old prior to August 1, 2023, may apply to the preschool program. Students who are age-eligible for kindergarten are not eligible for pre-K.
Applications may be obtained at the Primary School office, Central office, or online starting on January 4th, 2023. Applications will be accepted beginning on January 4, 2023. Applications for preschool must be returned no later than February 24, 2023.
There are a limited number of students selected for this program. Applications can be mailed, dropped off, emailed, or faxed to Central Office.

Outdoor Stadium Construction Project Update
The Southern Boone School District continues to work on plans for the construction project at the outdoor stadium, after voters in the Southern Boone School District approved the $3 million no-tax-increase bond issue during the April 2022 election. The project includes a new track, field turf, video scoreboard, sound system and installing additional bleachers to the north of the existing home bleachers.
During the December school board meeting, the Board of Education approved individual bids to Mid-America Sports Construction for the track and field, Heartland Seating Inc. for the bleachers and MidStates Energy Co. LLC for the electrical work. In November, the school board approved a bid from NEVCO for a new video scoreboard and sound system.
Work on the new field turf and track project is scheduled to start around the middle of May, with a majority of the project anticipated to be completed by the end of August.

January 2023 Board of Education Monthly Meeting
The Southern Boone School Board of Education will  hold its monthly meeting next week. Due to the school district being closed on Monday, January 16th, 2023, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the central office boardroom.

December 2022 School Board Meeting Highlights

School Staff Participates In CPR Training
A group of teachers, staff members, bus drivers and administrators attended training to become CPR certified on Friday, January 13th, 2023. Thank you to Rob Jackson Sr. and Rob Jackson Jr. with Midwest Emergency Medical Training for providing the lifesaving training to our staff.
Snow Day Fun Day!
After an unexpected snow day on Thursday, January 12th, 2023, parents shared pictures of their children enjoying the snow day outside. It is safe to say the snow was perfect for building a snowman!
