Holiday for Fiddles: A Benefit Concert to Support Youth & Family Services
Saturday, December 10 | 2 PM & 7 PM

Performing Arts Center of Rapid City

Join us for a festive holiday concert and help raise funds to support the youth programs of Youth & Family Services!
This joyous and merry concert will feature performances from renowned musicians: Kenny Putnam, Tom Schaefer, Owen DeJong, Brian and Kaija Bonde, Mike Connor, Boyd Bristow, Al Remund, and Larry Rohrer. Together, these musical artists will put on a show that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased in-person, over the phone, or online through the Performing Arts Center (see contact information below).
A portion of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to Youth & Family Services.

Christmas Tours of the Historic Adams House

Historic Adams House
December 10 | 1 PM – December 11 | 5 PM


The Historic Adams House will be elegantly dressed during the Christmas season. The open house-style tour will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A kid-friendly scavenger hunt with prizes will be available for children. Unique gifts are available for purchase in the Adams House Gift Shop.

Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members, $5 for children 6 – 12, and free to children 5 and under.

Holiday Gift Exchange

The Holiday Gift Exchange is your chance to make a difference this season! In partnership with the Black Hills Toy Drive, every toy brought in will be exchanged for a free Skate Pass and Skate Rental for the day during skating hours on December 11th.

Community Christmas Concert

Mark your calendar for the 43rd Community Christmas Concert. This enjoyable Sturgis community event is at the Community Center Theater.
Church choirs from our local churches will once again gather and share their love of choral and handbell music with our local music patrons.
The concert is free to the public with an opportunity to give a free-will donation at the door.

Bluegrass Christmas w/ Morning Dew

Morning Dew is a fiddle band hailing from Rapid City, SD composed of sisters Amelia and Adelaide Morgan on fiddle, mandolin, and vocals and accompanied by Jack Morgan on guitar.
The band plays traditional fiddle music including bluegrass, old time, Irish/Scottish and American folk songs as well as a variety of contemporary cover songs ranging from Johnny Cash and Lyle Lovett, to John Prine and Tom Petty. Morning Dew has performed extensively in the Rapid City area. 
It will be a rock'n good time and all earnings and tips will be donated to Feeding South Dakota.

A Potter Family Christmas!

The Most Wonderful Time returns to the Historic Theatre in the Performing Arts Center on December 22nd, 2022 with an all-star cast, taking you to Christmas' past in the present, and sharing space with all.

From traditional to modern, familiar and not, this years show will have something for kids from one to ninety-two.
Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30, with one intermission, and an after party! (Free food)
We will be donating a portion of this years proceeds to Native POP and the Performing Arts Center programming.

This is a huge fundraiser to keep the park free admission in the summer.
Experience the magic as you take a one-hour, round trip journey from Hill City to the North Pole where Santa will board the train and ride back to Hill City, taking time to visit with each child on the way. Passengers enjoy hot cocoa, a sugar cookie and a special story on the way to the North Pole. All kids will receive a bell to ring for Santa and be able to talk with Mrs. Claus and Santa.

The Family of Verle (Fritzi) Goehring has established an endowment through the Allied Arts in the loving memory of this wonderful woman.

Verle Bernice Shurtleff was born October 30, 1922, in Olney, Illinois. She lived on the family farm in Bone Gap, Illinois with her parents Clarence Ellsworth Shurtleff and Harriet Charlotte (Williams) Shurtleff, and sister Maurice Amelia. Verle attended Bone Gap High School, where she was in the choir and played tuba in the band. After graduation, she began nursing school in Chicago, where she met Oscar Goehring from Lowry, South Dakota, who was serving in the Army Air Force. He gave her the endearing name of Fritzi, and it stayed with her for life. They married at the First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, on June 11, 1943.

Fritzi was a volunteer Grey Lady at the hospital and was active in 4H, The Extension Club, Bridge Club, and the Rapid City Motel Association. She was a life member of AAUW, which awarded her “The Woman of Worth Award.” She and Oscar were founding and session members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

After Oscar died in 1970, Fritzi continued teaching. She filled her summers working at the 1880 train as the Office Manager. She obtained her real estate license and worked for Century 21. Upon retiring from teaching, she operated gift shops in Keystone, and later, two shops in Hill City. In 1991 she established and managed Travel Connection with her daughter Linda. She became a resident at West Hills Village and became involved by serving as a volunteer and board member.

Because of Fritzi’s love of the arts her family has established this fund to support student and senior art opportunities through our Share-a-Seat program.
