The Weekly E-newsletter of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church

There are several opportunities coming up to help our neighbors. Read about them in the "Announcements and Events" section below!

We had a nice attendance in the parking lot for the Youth Sunday service, and a great homily given by one of our youth, Daniel Wilson. Looking ahead to this weekend, the forecast looks iffy for Saturday and more hopeful for Sunday morning, but of course that can change! As always, please check the church website or Facebook page for notices about livestream-only worship before coming to a service if you're unsure of the weather.

Reminder: If we hold services outside, the only service which will be streamed online is the 10:30 service.)

Announcements and Events

United Thank Offering Ingathering May 8/9
The UTO is a ministry of the Episcopal Church that provides a tangible way to give thanks to God. The discipline sometimes starts at home by dropping coins into the "Blue Box". Some people fill only an envelope with a check or cash at the time of the Ingathering, but toward the same purpose. Every donation is used to support grants for missions and ministry in the United States and around the world. Please place your offering in the designated envelope included in your offering envelope packet (or another envelope) and bring it to church on Sat., May 8th or Sunday, May 9th . “Blue Boxes” for your use in collecting for future Ingatherings are available on the worship area entrance table. Be Thankful!

Blood Drive at St. Gabriel's - May 16
Miller-Keystone is holding a Blood Drive in Adams Hall on Sunday, May 16th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Due to safety precautions, no walk-ins are allowed - please sign up to give blood ahead of time on the
Miller-Keystone website (giveapint.org) and use Sponsor Code 5174, or call Jo Rivera at 610-763-1596.  There is great need for blood, so please sign up if  able.

It's Community Meal Time Again!
On Tuesday, May 25, St. Gabriel’s will provide a take-out meal to 160 residents of the Birdsboro area. The total cost of this meal is about $400, which includes all food and paper products (some of which are donated). If you are willing to help with this cost, please send to or drop off a check at the church office (or place in the offering plate at weekend worship). Please make the check payable to St. Gabriel’s and note “Community Meal” on the memo line. Contact Dianne Walker at 610-413-0790 with questions.  Thank you!

Mission Trip Birdsboro & Beyond July 21-24
St. Gabriel's will be partnering with other churches to help our Birdsboro area neighbors with various needed projects around their homes. Children as young as 8 may participate, so our St Gabes Kids Ministry is hoping some of our families will register, along with other folks from our congregation. You'll find LOTS of information at this link . The Registration Deadline is only a week and a half away, May 15, so please get your the required forms to Carly Greenwald ASAP!

We have some openings for Candle & Bulletin Sponsors

Sponsorships are "perpetual" each year unless you notify us that you no longer wish to sponsor. (The dates "move" a bit each year with the calendar) You may sponsor them in memory or honor of someone or an occasion, and the info you provide will appear in worship bulletins on the date you sponsor. You will receive a reminder card before the date.

Please call the office (610-385-3144) to claim a date(s) and to give us the necessary information.  Thank you for helping defray these expenses!

Resources

My Way of Love is a personal guide for the spiritual journey, providing coaching to help individuals grow along the "Seven Practices for Jesus Centered Life": turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, and rest. It begins with a brief online survey, the Spiritual Life Inventory, which assesses where you are in your spiritual life.

Once your responses have been processed, you'll receive an email with a helpful explanation of our findings, along with some tips for improving your spiritual journey. You’ll also be given a chance to sign up for an eight-week series of emails that will offer some suggestions, coaching for how you can grow spiritually, and ways you can go deeper in love of God and neighbor.  Find more information and the Inventory here.
