Will LA Ever Become Unstuck from Its Dysfunctional Sidewalk Policy? by City Watch LA
Members of the City of Los Angeles Joint Committee of Public Works and Gang Reduction and Budget and Finance Committee submitted a letter to the City Council with their policy proposals for the City of Los Angeles Sidewalk Program. The lack of a solid policy for the City’s over 11,500 miles of sidewalks, has created a growing list of infrastructure problems totals over $1.5 Billion dollars. [Read Full Article]

Public Entity Immune From Liability To Plaintiff Injured By "Tree Swing" On Public Property

The Court of Appeal has held that a governmental entity was immune from liability where a plaintiff was injured while using a "tree swing" on public property. In County of San Diego v. Superior Court, a high school student was injured when the rope on a tree swing broke, and he fell into a ravine.  The County did not own or maintain the tree swing, although it knew of its existence.
