The Climate Prediction Center says there is a 95% chance that El Niño will drench California and persist through the spring. With the much needed rain, comes an increased risk for widespread flooding. Click here for an informative article on El Niño and how it develops by the L.A. Times.

In partnership with Interwest Consulting, the Storm Preparedness "best practice" template* provides guidance for a full range of operational and maintenance activities prior to, during, and post storm events. Members may use this guide to evaluate their current operations and protocols, develop checklists for assessing their current policies and practices, and to their ensure activities are compatible with industry best practices. Please feel free to call us for assistance with implementation or specific strategic measures.

CSAC-EIA Recommended Training: Worker Occupational Safety and Health Training and Education Program (WOSHTEP)

WOSHTEP offers a Worker Occupational Safety and Health (WOSH) Specialist training, a free 24-hour course that enables employees to become leaders in promoting health and safety in their workplaces. The role of a WOSH Specialist is to:

  • Promote employers’ workplace injury and illness prevention efforts and help develop an Injury and Illness Prevention Program at their workplace.
  • Serve as a health and safety resource for others, including coworkers, health and safety committees, unions, and employers.
  • Identify workplace hazards.
  • Investigate the underlying causes of injuries.
  • Promote solutions to health and safety problems.
  • Support the successful return-to-work of injured employees.

This training complements the training provided by CSAC-EIA Loss Prevention staff, and participants will receive a certificate of completion. Please be sure to take advantage of this unique offering and register online. Space is limited.


In addition to the Safety & Loss Control Grant, which can be used for training such as WOSH, members have a one-time Employment Practices Liability (EPL) grant of $10,000. This grant can be used toward policy development or EPL-related training. Call PARSAC today for more information!
