Hi TimeBank Member,

We have been having a lot of fun around the TimeBank recently. Member created social events are a great way to meet other time bankers, and enjoy yourself at the same time. Frequently at social events, members find people who would be perfect to exchange with, and it is so much easier doing exchanges once you get to know someone. We have some fun  social events throughout this week, as well as the potluck on Sunday, so there is something for everyone, even the kids have a social event with holiday cookie house decorating on Sunday!

Tiger photos by Becky LeCron

2 different groups so far have had a chance to sit with baby tigers  for a fundraiser for Wildlife in Need a wildlife sanctuary that has over 70 different types of animals in the facility. We all had a great time, and it felt so good to be donating to all of the animals there. Thanks so much Stephanie Corbett for planning this outing!

Save the Date! Saturday January 11, 2014

Our 2 year anniversary is this January. We have a party being planned, and it looks like we are going to have musicians,  dancing, special desserts, and a silent auction to help build resources for the TimeBank. Come ready to celebrate!

You are welcome and encouraged to contribute items and/or services to the silent auction.  Your donation does not need to be fancy!  Here are a few examples of items or services you may want to contribute:

  • baked good
  • art piece
  • book
  • gift card to a local business
  • plant
  • anything handmade
  • that gift you've been wanting to re-gift

If you have questions about the silent auction, please contact Revenue Generation Committee Chair Linda Stettenbenz

Call for members

Here are a couple of jobs that we would love for members to get involved. Remember, any work you do for the TimeBank, you earn time credits, just like doing any other exchange!

Project Manager for Little Free Library project

Need an organized person to lead this great project. Building skills are not necessary, but being able to organize members of the library group with gaining and moving supplies(looking to use found materials), figuring out the best build days, keeping contact with all members is the main focus. The goal is to build several of these little libraries around Louisville that will have the TimeBank's name on them and marketing materials for promotion of the TimeBank as well as providing books to the libraries. Read more about Little Free Libraries here  Contact Membership Chair Stephanie Corbett for more information about this position.

Louisville TimeBank Bylaws working group members

The TimeBank board is starting the process of writing bylaws for the TimeBank. It is the first step in being able to apply for 501c3 status with the IRS so we can apply for grants to fund the TimeBank. We are looking for a minimum of 3 members to be involved with this process.  A desire to think and write about policy to create the foundation of how this organization runs is the main requirement, although some background with understanding how bylaws work or a willingness to research bylaw creation will be important. Members with non profit  backgrounds either on boards or staff are highly encouraged to be on this workgroup. Board members Kara Underwood and Beth Thorpe will be on this workgroup. If you have any questions about the bylaws workgroup or want to bring your skills to this project, please email here

Good Garbage opening and Art Exhibit

This last Saturday, organizational member Good Garbage opened in their own storefront in Portland! Check out photos HERE

They were also written up in the LEO last week about their collaboration with the Kentucky School of the Blind art show, which will be opening up at Good Garbage December 6th at 6pm through the end of the month. Check out the LEO article here. Congratulations Lynn! It is so great to see you doing what you love!
