You can’t be everywhere in Social Media.

In fact, you may waste a lot of time and energy trying to be everywhere.

Far better to be selective and let your clients lead the way.  Where are they actively using Social Media?  Where are they looking, following, liking?  They may not look like they’re doing a great deal, but may regularly check in to keep tabs on competitors, clients, industry bodies, etc. 

You could become one of their trusted sources in time, if you show up regularly too, with useful, relevant, timely (and where appropriate, entertaining) content.

Talking Business

We have recently completed a very enjoyable project with Tiana Wilson-Buys of Talking Business. 

Tiana is already a well-known business consultant, both here in North East England and to her many followers on twitter, but with a new website in development was keen to take her Marketing Strategy and Content Marketing to the next level.
 
Talking Business has a range of business process, development and management tools that Tiana has developed over the years and delivered face-to-face.  With the proliferation of online tools and Content Marketing techniques, Tiana can now serve an infinite number of customers worldwide... but you’ll still see her at key networking events for the foreseeable future.
 
 Tiana will be speaking at the NE Expo on "Get out of the dogfight with content marketing".  This will be on 19 November.  Talking Business will also have a stand at the event, so you can pop by to say hello.

She will be running her very successful Referral Harvester workshops in the New Year and the Talking Business Time and Task Management Workshop is now available online!

John Faulkner Photography

We have worked with John Faulkner, a very talented portrait and landscape photographer, since 2012.  His business has since expanded to include film making and John has done a number of commercial films as well as documentaries.

This week will see John fulfill a long term ambition to break into the London art market - much harder than you’d think, regardless of talent - at The Other Art Fair.

John’s work was selected by a panel that included Tracey Emin and curators from leading London galleries. The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane will play host to works by 130 of the UK’s finest emerging artists.

Johns’ work will be on display (and for sale) from Friday 17 - Sunday 19 October.

JDrew Creations: Ambix


In December 2013 we undertook a very interesting project, researching the digital footprint of competitor platforms in online collaboration and network management software for James Drew and Kate Baucherel, co-founders of JDrew Creations.

The first edition of the software they had developed, Union, was to be adopted by NEPIC for the roll out and management of BASME in the North East.  Union has now re-branded as Ambix, the intranet for membership organisations www.ambix.systems and 9 months on, JDrew Creations have launched their first Growthfunders appeal.

Ambix made in into the Top 100 of “The Pitch 2014”, Britain’s biggest business competition.   Here is a link to the article on bdaily.

Kate and James want to ‘crowd fund’ the next stage of Ambix development and commercialisation and investors can commit as little as £100, so if you fancy a flutter...

By the way, Kate Baucherel is also author of “Poles Apart: Challenges for business in the digital age”, a very useful primer for businesses exploring online marketing and tools.

Durham Business Skills Builder


An exciting new workshop series has just been launched by Durham Business Group.

Open to all, the Durham Business Skills Builder programme is designed to encompass strategy, sales, marketing, finance and human resources in a flexible, engaging format.

Sessions will be delivered by experienced practitioners and trainers, all of whom own and manage their own companies so understand the practical requirements necessary for business development and ultimate growth.

Joanne Dolezal of Dolezal Consulting will be delivering a session on Digital Marketing ~ Decoded on Tuesday 25 November, 9.00 - 12.30. 

The programme is approved by the North East Business Support Fund, through NBSL, and funding is available to eligible businesses for any 3 (or more) sessions.
