CIRCUS SCHOOL NEWS

PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY

The speed limit in the Showground is 10km/h, which is super slow to allow you time to stop for wayward children and dogs. Even if you are running late, please drive at this walking pace to keep everyone safe.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

The current COVID-19 pandemic may be causing you some concerns. Please know, Spaghetti staff and board members are monitoring the situation daily and are developing a response plan. If we have to close our doors, it will be based on local school closures and advice from Gymnastic Australia and local and national government bodies.

If your child exhibits sign of a temperature or a runny nose, please don't send them to class. Please also encourage them to wash their hands regularly with soap, including before and after class. For more information, consult the fact sheet below.

ENHANCED HYGIENE PRACTICES

In the interest of students, parents, customers and staff, we encourage strategies such as good hygiene and social distancing. Please bring your own water bottle.

WASH HANDS

Wash hands with soap for at least 20 seconds and ensure surfaces are regularly cleaned.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Maintain at least one metre between you and other people to minimise exposure to any risk.

HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

CANCELLED

The April Holiday Workshops have been cancelled until further notice.

NOW FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE LESS SERIOUS...

Why are circus performers so stressed?

 Because their job is in-tents.

NEW COACHES JOIN THE SPAGHETTI FAMILY

We have had some new coaches join us at Spaghetti Circus. You have probably already met them but here's a bit more about them:
Mikey Bailey
Mikey trained and performed as a youth at Flipside Circus and Circa Zoo in Brisbane. He has a diploma is circus arts and loves to share the delight of creating laughter through circus. Mikey is coaching a range of classes through the week, mostly Monday boys.

 Harper Kelso
Harper is an accomplished sportsman and circus performer. He returns after being part of the Performance Troupe and is sharing his enthusiasm with the Super Mighty Boys and Friday classes.
Marcela Scheuner
After training at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus from the age of eight, Marcela has coached for the Fruities and Cirkidz in Adelaide. She has toured with traditional circus The Lennon Brothers plus Circus Oz and is a founding member of Boss Squad. Marcela is a hula hooping extraordinaire and is coaching the Super Mighty Girls.

 Nikki Farrell
Nikki is an early childhood educator and returns to us after a few years away. Nikki is taking the lucky Macaronis on Saturdays.

Meet 'Gertie' our new truck

A new member has joined the Spaghetti Circus team and she’s an oldie but a goodie. ‘Gertie’ as she is known around the traps, is a new, second-hand truck which has been purchased through fundraising that reached $17,000.

Gertie will help her Spaghetti Circus family with community outreach work carrying equipment, professional artists, coaching staff and students to locations across Byron Shire to engage with aged-care, Indigenous students, clients of United Disability Care and school-aged children.

ANNUAL SHOW

TBC: If the Annual Show is affected by the Coronavirus situation, the show will be postponed to a later date.

Save the date for now for the Spaghetti Annual Show: Friday 26, Saturday 27, Sunday 28 June. Five performances over three days for all classes except the Mini Noodles. There is one more week of circus after the show but it is the first weekend of holidays for both Steiner schools.

Spaghetti Circus acknowledges the people of the Bundjalung Nation, traditional custodians of the land on which we live, love, work & play.
Spaghetti Circus is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
