History was made on October 28, 2013 with the convening of the BMC's first annual meeting. Smart people, issues, politics, organizational business, and food were all in abundance as we took the final formal step toward becoming a member-driven organization. Catch the action below:

Annual Meeting Highlights!

Keynote
Award-Winning "Soul Food Junkies" Filmmaker, Byron Hurt, shared his personal journey to using storytelling as a tool for Social Justice Movements. Here's some of the knowledge he dropped on us during his talk.

Year-In-Review
It's hard to believe BMC's 2nd Birthday is next month! A lot has gone down this past year, so we gave members a video look at what THEY have been up to. Check out!
Board Elections
The BMC elected a new board of directors. No recount needed! Read about our new Board members here!

New By-laws
Members took care of business, by reviewing and approving the BMC by-laws, officially making us member-owned and operated!
Accountability Session
Central Brooklyn city council nominees came to talk directly to BMC members about their plans! [Top: Kristian Foy, Working Families Party nominee / Bottom: Laurie Cumbo, 35th district Democratic Party nominee]
Planning
Each of our working groups (citizen journalism, education, food justice, & street harassment) met to strategize on what our goals are for next year. Want to be down? Come to a working group.

Celebration
It ain't a BMC party without lip smacking food! Thank you to Chef Kimathi Gordon-Somers for preparing our Annual Meeting grub.
