Training. For members of BMC it means gearing up to lead. Whether it's learning how to transform public education or holding police accountable, we spend a lot of time sharpening our skills so we can win our social justice campaigns.
Training Parent Leaders
On October 4th and 7th, a total of thirty parent leaders and educational justice activists came together to participate in BMC's parent leadership training. The day and a half long series of interactive workshops and panel discussions positioned Central Brooklyn parents to bring progressive change to their school and community school district, as well as to the Department of Education. To learn how you can become a part of our on-going leadership trainings and Schools 360 Campaign, email us at

Fighting For Police Accountability
On Thursday, October 30, over sixty people packed into the Judah International Christian Center in Crown Heights to participate in a training on how to assert your civil rights if approached by the police. The training also included a how-to
session for groups looking to set up their own cop watch operation that will monitor police activity and deter abusive patrolling. Co-sponsored by BMC, the training was facilitated by Djbril Toure and Lumumba Bandele of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement (MXGM) and presented by People's Justice for Community Control and Police Accountability, a coalition consisting of MXGM, CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities and the Justice Committee.
