It’s always poppin’ at BMC. Come check us as we organize to keep our streets safe, arm the revolution and debut BK Deep’s live investigative news show.
REWIND for Anti-Street Harassment Week
Those of us who are harassed are often so thrown off guard by the random assaults to our personal space that we don't know how to react until moments later.

At REWIND, we will use improv and storytelling techniques to re-imagine ways we might have more effectively responded to acts of harassment - with the benefit of time travel and community support.

Join us on Thursday, April 14 at Friends & Lovers (641 Classon Avenue) from 6:30-8:30, and RSVP here.
End Abusive Policing: Two Ways
Rally for the Right to Know Act on Thursday, April 21 at City Hall Park! We're demanding that the City Council move to require the NYPD to identify themselves and to stop unconstitutional searches. RSVP here.

And in Central Brooklyn The Crown Heights CopWatch Team is hosting its first training on Monday, April 18, 2016.

Come out to join the team, learn how to CopWatch on your own, or simply learn your rights in a police encounter! RSVP here.

Fundraising for Freedom: April Membership Organizing Academy
BMC's latest Member Organizing Academy training will be held Saturday, April 9th, 12 pm - 3 pm, at 375 Stuyvesant Ave. More than your average fundraising 101, Fundraising for Freedom! is both workshop and discussion. Participants will learn how to apply fundraising skills to BMC and Black movement building efforts, while exploring what sustainability and self-determination look like in the non-profit industrial complex. Click here to RSVP. Contact Z at with questions + childcare requests.

Leadership Love
BMC was recently recognized as an emerging social justice force of nature by the North Star Fund (NSF). Along with a grant commitment, NSF's Movement Leadership program supports three BMC leader-stakeholders through a year-long strategic planning process, coaching regiment, and peer-to-peer mentoring within a small cohort of grassroots organizing groups. We look forward to bringing it.
Brooklyn Deep
The Case for Hyper Local News
This month on Third Rail, Jarrett Murphy, executive editor and publisher of City Limits joined us to unpack the role local news plays in neighborhoods like Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights and then discussed the state of gentrification reporting.

Brooklyn Deep goes BK Live
Every last Monday at noon, Brooklyn Deep will be broadcasting from  BK Live, BRIC TV's daily show on all things Brooklyn. We've already logged two shows: the impact of Airbnb on Central Brooklyn and the significant rise of charter schools in district 16. Catch us live on BRIC TV here.
