Reclaiming What’s Ours
View this email in your browser
We all live with the idea that power belongs to the rich, politicians, or big institutions. But nothing is more powerful than ordinary people, informed and united. Whether it’s women demanding harassment-free streets, civilians holding police accountable, or parents finding their voice, this month’s e-newsletter speaks to us taking back what was ours in the first place.
Who You Calling a B8#@%?!
No Disrespect presents at INCITE!
No Disrespect, BMC’s anti-street harassment collective, flew to the windy-city to present at INCITE's Color of Violence 4 conference and share strategies with radical feminists of color from across the country working to end violence against women, gender non-conforming and trans people of color, and our communities as a whole.

Your Right to Know
BMC is working to ensure passage of the Right to Know Act, a legislative package that protects New Yorkers from unconstitutional searches and requires police officers to identify themselves in civilian encounters. NY City Council Members Cornegy and Cumbo already support this important legislation, so call on Council Members Mathieu Eugene (718-287-8762) and Darlene Mealy (718-953-3097) to do the same.
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Looking for jobs in the fields of organizing, policy, media or government? BMC will begin sharing job opportunities through a new email list. Interested? Sign up here.

To start with, BMC is looking for an unstoppable organizer to lead our parent organizing work. Email us at search@BrooklynMovementCenter.org for more details.
Third Rail Podcast
On this month's Third Rail, communications activist and community organizer, Autumn Marie, joined us to break down movement messaging and strategies. Among the questions we tackle: Is hip hop still relevant as an organizing tool? What’s the difference between marketing and community outreach? Hear what went down here!

You can listen to past episodes on BrooklynDeep.org or by subscribing to our podcast. Don't forget to rate Third Rail in iTunes and to leave a comment!
