DC's Chronicle

Hello everyone and welcome to my first newsletter.

It’s great to be back in Chorley District and I’m looking forward to working with everyone and to continue the great legacy that has been left by our previous DC’s.

Since I started as DC I’ve had the pleasure to see young people from our sections gain their top awards in all sections – this is great to see and there will be many more to come I’m sure.

We’ve updated our District Directory and started on the District Calendar – if there are any changes that need making please let me know.

Dates for your diary

Beaver Christingle & Chief Scout Bronze Awards - 7th December

December the 7th saw St Georges Church, alight with candles as Beavers from across the District attended the annual Christingle and Bronze Awards Evening, which this year was hosted by St John Bosco who did a fantastic job. At the event 59 bronze awards where presented, Congratulations and well done to all!

Sadly, since this event Father Tim Wilby, who has been a great supporter of the district, passed away. He will be sadly missed.
Cubs100 Promise Party - 16th December

Chorley Dictrict Cubs ended the year with a bang, to celebrate the biggest year ever for cubs... CUBS100.

Cubs from every corner of the district descended on the Town hall to have the biggest promis party they could. Dancing, Music and Games were on the cards for our fantastic cub section, before we linked up with the rest of the county and renewed the promise.

This was also the final event that ADC Cubs, Jo Millington helped organise and run before stepping down, I would like to say a huge thank you to Jo for her time as ADC Cubs supporting one of our ever growing sections.
District Scout Bowling Competition - 25th January

To kick start 2017, the district Scout section ran their annual bowling competition with Troops trying to win the coveted title of'Kingpin 2017' and 'Team of the Year' .

The Scouts took over the lanes at Hollywood Bowl at Middlebrook with  Ruben, from Chorley Red Bank winning the individual title, and Hollinshead Street won the team competition. Who could it be next year?
