Who doesn't love summer? Warm weather brings with it apple pie, homemade ice cream, the smell of grills and barbecue, family vacations, and picnics. For missionaries home on itineration, it also brings a time of coming together with colleagues from our field and region, who are currently stateside, to strategize, build a unified vision, go through training, and of course catch up with the extended missionary family that we haven't seen in several years. It is called Missionary Renewal, and we just returned from a week spent with our new Europe field.
We also continue to spend time with you, our supporters and prayer partners, as well as seek new partners as we travel the state. Over the last couple of months our itineration travels have been different than in the past. I now often travel by myself to services, as Karla stays home with our two toddlers. We quickly learned that long car trips and toddlers don't mix, especially when you are still adjusting to one another. Thank you for your understanding, hospitality, blessings, and prayers as we make this transition with our new family.
As most of you know, we have had two toddlers in our home since April 4th, so we thought we'd share a few things that we've learned along the way. We hope you enjoy!
What makes parenting toddlers truly priceless and worth any sacrifice?
1. Sweet giggles.
2. Smiles that extend to the eyes.
3. Bear hugs.
4. All three of the above at the same time.
5. Being tackled or a child running towards you with their hands up to be held.
6. Holding a sleeping toddler in your arms, knowing that they are yours.
Things that we thought were once a given, but are now just a memory:
1. A finished cup of morning coffee.
2. A task finished in one sitting.
3. Eating while the food is still hot.
4. Relaxing at the table.
5. Date nights and adult conversation.
6. Sleeping in and waking up naturally.
7. Watching a movie together at home from start to finish.
8. A quiet drive.
9. Reading a good book.
10. Meeting a friend for coffee or a meal.
On our way home from Missionary Renewal we received a phone call informing us that we have been approved to adopt our two toddlers. We are excited, as this is one of the final steps in the adoption process; finally we will have the family we've always wanted. We still need prayer for continued favor as we prepare for finalization, as well as request an earlier court date. We are hoping to finalize by the end of summer so that we can begin the paperwork and visa process to move to Spain.
Where are we in finances?
We were granted an extension! Thank you to all who responded with monthly commitments before the end of June. If you weren't able to make a commitment that quickly, we understand, and there is still time! We are hoping to be at full budget by the time the adoption is finalized, so that we can immediately begin the visa process.
We have now passed the 87% mark in monthly pledges and have 85% of our cash budget.
We only need $6000 in cash, and about $1300 in monthly support to be at full budget.
Praise the Lord!
With the three month extension, we have a little more time to raise our support. Only 26 new partners are needed at $50 a month. Please pray with us as we continue to book services the next three months, that God would lead us to the churches and individuals that He has prepared to partner with us. If you've been planning to support us on a monthly basis, you can make that commitment by filling out the form online by clicking here
and setting up a recurring gift. Any amount will be a blessing and help us reach the field.
Again, we cannot thank you enough for your love, prayers, warm wishes, and financial partnership. The task before us is not ours alone, it is the Lord's, and we know that He will provide the needed partners both in prayer and finances!
How can YOU connect with us?
During our time in Springfield, we learned of a new app released by AGWM that will allow you to conveniently keep up with both us and other missionaries that you may support. Through this app you will have access to our newsletters, prayer needs, and profiles. You can even give an offering or make a recurring gift right from your smart phone. If you follow us, you will be notified whenever we post a new prayer request or newsletter. You can literally walk with us in this new journey!
Simply go to your app or google play store to download the AGMD app.

How can you pray?
We have two major prayer needs in which we would love your support:
Would you please make a commitment to bring these needs before the Lord for 10 minutes a day for the next 10 days?
- We need finances, both monthly support as well as the remainder of our cash budget. Pray specifically for 26 new $50 pledges, or pledges that add up to that amount.
- We are parents! We are learning in how many different ways and just how easily a toddler can get hurt and sick. Please pray for our little ones health; as well as for the wisdom and patience needed for Karla & I to raise these two kids with a godly example.
- Please pray for God's timing on the finalization of the adoption.
If you'd like us to know that you are praying for us, you may commit to pray by clicking here, and then click on "Commit to Pray Regularly". If we join together in prayer, I believe that God will answer!
