The tide has turned!

March 2018

Во вторник заберу справку и постараюсь сразу отправить. (Tuesday I'll pick up the background checks and try to mail them immediately.) With those words the tide turned, and the long pause in our document process ended.

Our Spanish invitations were finally issued the first week of February, but by that time our original Russian background checks had expired, forcing us to wait once more. But the time of waiting is over! Today, the Spanish invitations arrived at our door, along with the translated Russian background checks. Monday, March 5th, we leave for Houston and our Spanish embassy appointment on the 6th. Please pray that all goes smoothly, and that our documents are accepted. Prayerfully, we will receive our visas within a month, and we will be on our way to Spain.
                 Long awaited documents for visa.

Almost There
As of today, we are over 97% on our monthly pledges, or just $215.22 short of our goal. If you have been considering picking us up in monthly support for any amount, the time is now! Your pledge could be the one that gets us to 100% in monthly support, allowing us to go to our new field fully funded. If you aren't comfortable making a monthly pledge, but would like to help us reach the finish line, all cash will now be converted to monthly pledges, as we are over 100% in cash.  For example:  $1200 equals a $25/month pledge over four years, $2400 equals a $50/month pledge, $4800 equals a $100/month pledge, etc. Thank you so much for prayerfully considering our need, and to those who faithfully give and pray for our ministry, we can't thank you enough. If there is ever something we can do to help you, or a special need to pray for, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Our sweet messes!

It will soon be one year since Kaleb and Katelyn were placed in our home as foster children. Becoming parents has proved to be one of the greatest challenges of our lives, and we are now thankful that in God's wisdom our departure was delayed a few months. As of this month the kids have been cleared medically by all of their doctors. God has done miracles in their little lives, and lived up to the word He gave Karla that the issues would all disappear like a mist. Just two weeks ago, Kaleb graduated from speech therapy, and Katelyn should finish up this month - meaning we leave for the field with NO medical or therapy immediately required on the field. That is a blessing!

Katelyn turned 2 on February 1st, so we have made it a month living with two 2 year olds. Only two weeks left to go until Kaleb turns 3! They say that stronger bonds are formed during trying times, so the last three weeks should have cemented us together as we lived through strep, flu b, and bronchitis. Seriously though, life has gradually become easier as our attachments have grown to one another, and we have adjusted to their budding personalities.

Kaleb graduates speech therapy.

Katelyn's 2nd Birthday

Special Prayer Needed

As we are preparing for our visa appointment next week, beginning to pack the house and make plans for Kirk's setup trip to Spain, we are also dealing with Karla's mom's health. She fell February 16th and suffered a brain bleed. Although she came through surgery well, recovery is still an uphill climb. Due to our circumstances, Karla isn't able to be with her as much as she would like, which is hard. Decisions are needing to be made soon concerning future living arrangements. We would appreciate your prayers for her healing, as well as God's guidance in decision making.
