The CMLTA is excited to announce that the new (version 4.0) Continuing Competence Program (CCP) is now complete. As previewed in the February and October 2015 issues of The Commentator, the new CCP is based on the recently revised CMLTA Standards of Practice (Standards). The CCP can be viewed in full on the CMLTA website or a hard copy may be requested by emailing email@example.com.
Highlights of the new CCP include:
A Competency Profile based on the Standards categorized into Enabling Competencies has replaced the 22 bands based on Area of Practice.
Fewer discrete competencies overall results in less time to complete the Self-Assessment of Practice.
Learning Objectives are no longer created by Regulated Members; instead Enabling Competencies identified as Developmental/Advancing/Expanding (DEV) are automatically converted into Learning Objectives.
Learning Objectives based on Enabling Competencies allows for a broader scope of learning and avoids “boxing-in†or restricting learning.
The Alberta College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (ACMLT) operates as the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
