STARS Transition Retreat

Picture of youth on retreat

The STARS Transition Retreat took place the weekend of April 9th at Camp New Dawn in Chickamauga, GA. Held each year, the goal of the Transition Retreat is for students ages 14 and up to enjoy a retreat from everyday life, share in team building activities and make goals for the future, while enjoying the support and encouragement of their peers.
Seventeen people attended the retreat, including eight students. All enjoyed rustic cabin accommodations and days full of engaging activities that fostered team-building and independence. Students got to visit a working farm where they fed baby goats and held chickens, and they enjoyed a Saturday night campfire where they roasted marshmallows and played a group storytelling game. Throughout the weekend, students were responsible for tasks like meal preparation and packing, reinforcing the retreat’s focus on independence.
Thank you to the staff and volunteers who made this special weekend possible for the students!

Volunteer Appreciation Brunch

Picture of volunteers from brunch
At CVI, our volunteers are passionate about helping our clients to achieve their goals – and we would not be able to achieve our mission without their dedicated support. On April 16, CVI held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch to say “thank you” for all of their hard work. Individual volunteers and representatives from several corporate volunteer groups – including AT&T, Cricket Wireless and Intellum – attended this special event. Volunteers enjoyed a breakfast taco bar, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee and juice. In gratitude for their dedication to CVI, each volunteer received a single long stemmed rose along with an insulated lunch bag, CVI mug, keychain and more. CVI client Robert Swain spoke about the volunteer that helps him and the importance of the assistance provided by all volunteers, and CVI volunteers of the quarter were honored.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who help CVI to achieve its mission every day!
